These innovative degree programs allow students to gain expertise in the fields of agriculture, applied sciences, aviation, business, machinery and technology. Additionally, opportunities are available for teacher licensure in agricultural education, family and consumer sciences education and technology and engineering education. ASTE is available in Logan and USU-Eastern campuses in Price and Blanding. Students are encouraged to enhance their education through hands-on application using specialized classrooms and laboratories throughout the state. Accommodations are made for those unable to attend class in a traditional setting through Utah State University's Distance Education program. Additionally, various industries and communities are served by career and technical (vocational) certifications offered through the Workforce Education division at USU-Eastern. The outdoor recreation industry has a high demand for people with innovative ideas and the training to make them a reality. Focusing on studio experiences and hands-on courses, this degree will help you enter the exciting industry of outdoor recreation products. The skills needed to design and develop outdoor products are diverse, so coursework combines elements of engineering, recreation, sustainability, design, business and other concepts to prepare you for success in the field. Learn More About OPDD Close Agricultural Communication Agricultural Communication Major A major problem facing agriculture is the lack of effective communication to a variety of audiences. This program provides students with coursework in a variety of agricultural disciplines, including animal science, plant science and agricultural economics. Additionally, students can choose to concentrate coursework within one of three journalism emphases: public relations, print or broadcast journalism. This program prepares students to work in different kinds of media and to effectively communicate with people in the agriculture industry and with consumers. Students graduate from this program with two degrees: a BS in agricultural communication and journalism and a BS in journalism. These degrees qualify students for work in the broad field of journalism and communication. Career opportunities include, but aren’t limited to, writing for agriculture publications, working in advertising and sales, being a news broadcaster or public relations specialist.
